Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account information: Name, email address when you create an account via Google Sign-In or email.
- Pet listings: Photos, descriptions, breed, age, location and other details you include when posting a pet.
- Lost & found reports: Pet descriptions, photos, GPS location data, and comments you submit.
- Communications: Messages sent through meet requests, comments, and contact forms.
We automatically collect:
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen size.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the app.
- Location: Approximate location based on IP address, or precise GPS location if you grant permission for Lost & Found features.
How we use your information
- Display and manage your pet listings
- Send email notifications (alerts, confirmations, meet requests, comments)
- Enable the Lost & Found feature including location-based alerts
- Improve the app and fix bugs
- Prevent fraud and enforce our terms
Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- With other users as part of the app's functionality (your pet listings, comments, and contact info you choose to provide are visible to other users)
- With service providers who help us operate (Supabase for database, Resend for email, Vercel for hosting)
- When required by law
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and follow industry-standard security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Your rights
You can:
- Access, update, or delete your account and listings at any time from your profile
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us
- Opt out of notification emails
- Delete your account entirely by contacting us
Cookies
We use local storage (similar to cookies) to remember your preferences, liked pets, and login session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
Children's privacy
MyLocalPaws is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
